My Story
Therapeutic Arts Sarnia was founded by local artist and educator Evelyn Dillon, whose lifelong dedication to creative expression and human wellbeing is at the heart of her practice.
Evelyn has been a visual artist since childhood, with art serving as a powerful source of self-expression, healing, and connection throughout her life. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University in Toronto, Ontario, in 2008. From an early stage in her creative journey, she recognized that her calling extended beyond artistic practice alone and was deeply rooted in a desire to support and uplift others through meaningful, compassionate work.
Motivated to share her passion for art in a purposeful and structured way, Evelyn pursued a Degree in Education, specializing in Art and English. She has had the privilege of teaching drawing at the college level for over a decade and has worked extensively in post-secondary education supporting students with diverse and neurodivergent abilities since 2009. These experiences have shaped an inclusive, empathetic approach grounded in respect, accessibility, and individualized support.
The intersection of her work with neurodivergent learners and her firsthand experience of the therapeutic power of creativity led Evelyn to pursue certifications as an Art Therapy Practitioner and Wellness Coach. It is now her honour to offer art therapy and wellness coaching services to the community through Therapeutic Arts Sarnia.
Each individual Evelyn works with is met with dignity, care, and respect. She provides a safe, nurturing environment and thoughtfully designed therapeutic art activities that support individuals in exploring their thoughts and emotions, fostering self-expression, insight, and personal growth.
No artistic experience is required to benefit from art therapy. Creative expression at any level holds therapeutic value and serves as a powerful tool for enhancing overall wellbeing.
